High-risk pregnancy

A small baby, watched over until the right moment to deliver

  • Jordan
  • She was 29, her husband 32
  • Serial growth scans, Doppler studies, timed delivery

A previous pregnancy had been complicated by fetal growth restriction, and there was a history of poor fetal growth in this pregnancy too.

The clinic kept close watch: serial growth measurements, umbilical-artery and other Doppler assessments, evaluation of maternal contributing factors, and careful assessment of fetal wellbeing.

The pregnancy was continued safely until the baby reached an appropriate gestational age — a small but clinically well baby girl, who received appropriate neonatal observation.
